Spencer Bell Memorial Fund     
 

 

The Spencer Bell Memorial Fund at the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center aims to raise awareness for adrenal cancer research, support research and provide a training ground for young students interested in a career in medicine or science through sponsorship of summer research fellowships in laboratories associated with the Adrenal Cancer Program of the Endocrine Oncology Program at the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center.

 

Spencer's parents Bill and Cathy Bell are leading a new push to raise awareness and funds for adrenal cancer research. Spencer was a talented musician and songwriter, and his parents have centered their efforts around his music. The Spencer Bell Memorial Concert to raise money for adrenal cancer research will be held on Friday night, Sept. 7th at the Royal Oak Music Theatre. Doors will open at 7 p.m., with music at 8 p.m. The Howling Diablos are scheduled to appear, along with Spencer's band The Stevedores, and another local band called Double Scale. Spencer Bell Scholars Program

A primary initiative of the Spencer Bell Scholars Program will be to sponsor undergraduate or graduate students for summer internships in laboratory science pertaining to adrenal cancer at the Endocrine Oncology Program.   Scholars are fully funded for summer studies with the opportunity for renewal for another year.  The ultimate goal of the Program is to increase to number of young people interested in careers in science and medicine through summer studies focused on adrenal cancer.
