OLD TIME PIANO
Jerry Perrine
Jerry Perrine specializes in the classic American piano styles of ragtime, traditional jazz, blues and boogie-woogie. As a teenager, Perrine became fascinated with the ragtime piano music of Scott Joplin and others, and he taught himself how to play ragtime piano. As he studied the music and the history of that piano style, he learned of other styles and pianists such as Eubie Blake, Jelly Roll Morton, Fats Waller and many others. He learned how to play and compose in each style, and he has enjoyed performing old time piano music for nearly thirty years in Ann Arbor, Detroit and Chicago. Recently, he has been a featured performer at the Greenfield Village Ragtime Street Fair in Dearborn, Michigan.

CHAMBER MUSIC FOR CLARINET & STRINGS
Friends of the LSO Chamber Ensemble
Members of the U-M Life Sciences Orchestra are joined by friends to perform Mozart’s quintet K. 581 and excerpts from Brahms quintet Op. 115 for clarinet and strings. Mozart’s quintet is one of the earliest and best-known works written for the clarinet, with many lyrical melodies. The quintet by Brahms is a late work, perhaps one of his best chamber music compositions. The musicians in the group are doctors and university professors based in Ann Arbor: William Burnham, clarinet; Michael Bonner and Cornelia Betschart Meier, violin; Niels Herold, viola; and Alejandro Uribe, cello.
