SUMMER COURTYARD CONCERT SERIES

The BluescastersELECTRIC BLUES
The Bluescasters
Come celebrate the beginning of summer and kick-off the UMHS Summer Courtyard Concert Series with the Bluescasters! This well-known Ann Arbor group was formed in 2004 by Harry Rodman (percussion & vocals), Doug Wolgat (bass & vocals) and Kerry Adams (guitar and vocals). They were later joined by multi-instrumentalist Phil Ryski (guitar, piano, harp & vocals). Since then, the band has released three award nominated albums. In 2009, Ann Arbor's legendary jazz guitar master Brian Delaney replaced Adams as principle guitar player. The Bluescasters bring their original, high energy music to festivals and nightclubs throughout Michigan.

Shakespeare in the ArbSHAKESPEARE IN THE COURTYARD
Shakespeare in the Arb Players

Shakespeare in the Arboretum has been an Ann Arbor tradition since 2001. Every year, U-M students, alumni and faculty members gather to act in the summer’s Shakespeare play, and thousands of audience members enthusiastically join in. The experience blends community, student and professional theatre production with the rich ecology and rolling landscape of the Arb. Directed by Kate Mendeloff and presented by the U-M Residential College and Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Nichols Arboretum, this year’s production is Much Ado About Nothing, running Th-Sun., June 6-June 23, 2013. For this performance as a part of the UMHS Summer Courtyard Concert Series on June 13, the players will perform excerpts from the play in various locations in the courtyard.

Saline FiddlersFIDDLING, SONG & DANCE
The Saline Fiddlers

America's premier youth fiddling show band of music, song and dance, the Saline Fiddlers is comprised of 29 high school students from the Saline, Michigan area who play a variety of instruments: violin, viola, cello, guitar, electric bass, mandolin and drums. Since 1994, the Saline Fiddlers have undeniably set the standard for extracurricular music programs in the United States. What began as a simple idea of an alternative style of music education for public school students has grown into a model of instruction and motivation. Yet more importantly, it is a brilliant example of what young adults can and will achieve if given a direction and the opportunity to explore and pursue their interests. This concert is a part of the UMHS Summer Courtyard Concert Series.

As a part of the UMHS Summer Courtyard Concert Series, they will share their joy of music with the larger community. The group frequently changes and grows as members push themselves to expand their musicality and include more students from all bands on campus.

HAPPY HOLIDAY!

Los GatosSALSA!
Los Gatos

Pete Siers, drummer and leader of the renowned Latin jazz combo Los Gatos, is a powerful, intensely physical and dynamic player on timbales, coro and percussion. In addition to Siers, the other four members of the group, Cary Kocher, vibes and coro; Kurt Krahnke, bass; Brian Di Blassio, piano and coro; and Al Di Blassio, congas, vocals and percussion, are all world class performers. They have each toured extensively and have been performing in Los Gatos for over 10 years. With Siers, this group’s rhythm section is remarkable, but for many listeners, the distinctive feature of Los Gatos is Cary Kocher’s vibraphone sound, which can send a cool flow down your back on a hot summer day.  This concert is part of the UMHS Summer Courtyard Concert Series presented by Gifts of Art.
