Gerald Ross listen
Gerald Ross is one of America's best-known ukulele performers, entertainers and advocates. He’s comfortable with just about every type of Americana roots music, and he’ll play it all on ukulele and steel guitar. He's performed in concert with Bonnie Raitt, Arlo Guthrie and Doc Watson, and he has appeared many times on “A Prairie Home Companion”. In addition to performing, Ross is a much sought after teacher of ukulele and steel guitar at festivals and music camps around the country. Look for live stream video on Gifts of Art Facebook.

Bandleader Rob Crozier has a fun, eclectic look for jazz standards and beyond. For his trio, he is joined by Keaton Royer on piano and Rob Avsharian on drums. From modern swing to vintage funk, they keep it moving. After a great reception at the 2018 Elkhart Jazz Festival in Indiana and West Michigan Wine and Jazz Festival, this fine group has continued to wow audiences with feature performances at the charming Mayflower Music Series in Detroit and at their regular engagements at Weber's Habitat in Ann Arbor every Sunday night. For this performance, many of Crozier original works from his latest release, Ocean Blue, will be featured.

In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s birthday, the Grosse Ile Quintet presents a program in honor of his life and legacy. With nearly 200 years of combined solo, teaching and orchestral experience, the Grosse Ile Quintet (GIQ) is comprised of Carole Scott, flute; Nancy Gruits, oboe; Lisa Dills, clarinet; Dianne Newberry, French horn; and Heather Hartwick-Gladden, bassoon. Since their founding in 2016, this quintet is constantly coming up with new and interactive ways to present their arrangements of music from a variety of genres: traditional folk music, movie themes, classical music and pop.

Henrik KarapetyanARMENIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC

Born in Yerevan, Armenia, Henrik Karapetyan holds a doctorate in violin performance from U-M, is a member of the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra, and is active as a folk, Gypsy and jazz violinist throughout the midwest. Pianist Xavier Suarez currently resides in Bowling Green, Ohio, where he leads the active career of a soloist, collaborator and teacher. Having performed together since 2010, the Karapetyan-Suarez Duo will present a program focusing mostly on classical compositions by 19th and 20th century composers of Armenian origin. Camila Ballario is an Argentine-born American singer. She grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan and received her bachelor’s degree in classical vocal performance from the University of Michigan. Having performed in a wide range of musical styles in addition to classical, Ballario has developed a wonderful sound of her own. Danirée

Daniel Goree, guitarist and vocalist of Danirée, is originally from the Pacific Northwest. He began singing and playing guitar at a young age and later joined the Portland Community College Jazz Band and Portland Mandophonic Orchestra. He toured with Country Western Hall of Famer Hank Snow, playing at Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Elks Clubs in the region. A global traveler, Goree brings different sounds and perspectives to his interpretation of country and American rhythm & blues. CutTime Simfonica (classical string quintet+drums) presents a lively, humorous and flirtatious Valentine's Day program, including classic symphonic plus adventurous new works blending Latin, tango, folk, rock, blues, country, soul and hip-hop elements. See what this group does with classical music off the pedestal, composed of musicians from Detroit's two major orchestras, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Detroit Opera Theater Orchestra. Expect works by Mozart and Bach swung to Mr. CutTime's (Rick Robinson’s) "Gitcha Groove On!" and a Beatles cover. The audience can join in at times on toy percussion. Winner of six Detroit Music Awards, Ann Arbor saxophone/flutist and vocalist Paul Vornhagen performs jazz standards by Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Rodgers & Hart, and more, accompanied by a pianist. VornHagen has released 10 critically acclaimed recordings on PKO Records that have been featured on NPR. A prolific composer, VornHagen’s songs have appeared as sound tracks for PBS documentaries, and most recently, an upcoming feature length romantic comedy film, Bride Plus One. Elden & Lani Kelly

Guitar virtuoso Elden Kelly is a classically-influenced jazz and world music artist, composer, singer-songwriter and professor of jazz guitar at Kalamazoo College. Lani Kelly, oboist, performs with the symphonies of Lansing, Saginaw Bay, and Jackson, Michigan, as well as appearances with the New World Symphony in Miami and the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra. This husband-wife duo, who both hold music degrees from New England Conservatory and Michigan State University, present Song of the Nightingale, featuring Elden's original instrumental music and arrangements with classical and contemporary influences.
