U-M Doctoral Strings Students
For 125 years, the University of Michigan School of Music has provided the finest education and experience in the performing arts. Now renamed the School of Music, Theatre and Dance, it continues to attract some of the nation’s top students. This concert features music by students in the Doctorate of Musical Arts program. Sarah Jones (violin), Justyna Grudzinska (double bass) and Elizabeth Soukup (double bass) will play works by Telemann, Stein and Bach.

LOVE SONGS BY ELVIS (IMPERSONATOR)
David Joseph
David Joseph has worked for the U-M Health System for the better part of 30 years, and he has been involved with music for 50. In his career as Elvis, he has performed at American Legions, Elks Lodges and Veterans of Foreign Wars gatherings in the greater Detroit region and most recently at U-M Health System’s Employee Appreciation Days. For this concert, David Joseph will perform romantic songs as Elvis.

DETROIT ORIGINAL – PIANO JAZZ & VOCALS
Alvin Waddles listen
Pianist, singer, composer, director, Alvin Waddles has worked in Detroit and Ann Arbor Public Schools and in the music ministries of several churches. He has been musical director and/or pianist for The Wiz, The Color Purple, Dreamgirls, Chorus Line, West Side Story, Sophisticated Ladies and featured performer in the Detroit Music Hall's production of Ain't Misbehavin'. He performed as Crown for Bowling Green State University's production of Porgy and Bess and played “Rhapsody in Blue” with the Michigan Opera Theater Orchestra. Mr. Waddles has delighted Detroit music lovers at the Detroit International Jazz Festival and the Detroit Festival of the Arts.

FLUTE TRIO
Iridescent Flute Trio
The Iridescent Flute Trio is a newly formed group of classically trained flutists who enjoy playing thought provoking music in various ensembles including the Southeast Michigan Flute Choir. Hayley Boyse, MM, currently works for Genpact@Google and enjoys playing chamber music in local ensembles. Kelsi Gautz earned her bachelors in music at Bowling Green University and is currently the director of the Southeast Michigan flute choir. Melissa Grey, MM, is a guest clinician with the Andrews University Symphony Orchestra, performs with the Dexter Orchestra and teaches private lessons. This concert features works by Ian Clarke, Frederich Kuhlau, Friedrich Kummar, and Latin inspired dances by Joachim Linkelmann.

ITALIAN CARNIVAL MUSICAL THEATER
Jeffrey Willets with Elisabeth Wagner listen
You won’t want to miss this Italian Musical Carnival. Jeffrey Willets, tenor, will perform popular Italian arias, folk songs and Italian based musical theatre pieces from Broadway literature. His voice has been heard in musical theatre, operatic and cabaret performances (with his best friend Jay Kaplan in Two Tenors on the Edge) in many theatres throughout the state. Most recently, he performed the role of Kaspar in Main Street Opera Theatre’s production of Amahl and the Night Visitors at the Village Theatre in Northville, Michigan. Willets will be accompanied by Elisabeth Wagner on piano.

IRISH & CONTEMPORARY MUSIC
Kitty Donohoe with Lance Wagner

Award winning singer/songwriter Kitty Donohoe is based out of Ann Arbor, but her reputation extends far beyond. She is a nationally known, Emmy-winning songwriter with a strong, clear 'haunting' voice and a vast repertoire of original songs and familiar tunes. With several acclaimed CDs to her credit, Donohoe’s music spans the oceans expressing both a love of music and language. While playing guitar and cittern, she sings songs with her three-octave voice that draw upon her Irish heritage and her northern US roots. Lance Wagner is a stellar fiddler and pianist, and together they will perform Irish music in honor of St. Patrick's Day.

FAVORITE OPERA ARIAS
Sonja Srinivasan
Emerging professional lyric soprano and musician Sonja Srinivasan is a private student of George Shirley, Professor Emeritus at U-M. She debuted with the Comic Opera Guild in 2009, and has performed in a variety of local events, including the Canton Liberty and International Festivals. She has also performed the First Lady in the Midwest Institute of Opera’s Die Zauberflöte, and leads in scenes from a variety of other operas. In addition, Srinivasan is a regular, monthly performer with the Ann Arbor chapter of Opera on Tap. She is also a writer and academic consultant when she is not singing opera, and holds degrees from Stanford and Columbia Universities. For this concert, Srinivasan will perform soprano arias and more.

CHAMBER MUSIC WITH PIANO
Friends of the LSO Chamber Ensemble
Members of the U-M Life Sciences Orchestra are joined by friends to perform Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, K297b and the Beethoven Piano Quintet, Op. 16. In addition, the group will play an excerpt from either the Beethoven or Mozart piano quintets. The musicians in the group are doctors and university professors based in Ann Arbor: William Burnham, clarinet; Ruth McAdams, oboe, Amy Kilbourne, bassoon and Edward Norton, horn. The piano accompanist is Tracey Baetzel.
