SOLO JAZZ GUITAR

Born in Goteborg, Sweden, guitar virtuoso Jake Reichbart lived in Winnipeg, Tel Aviv and Amsterdam before settling in Ann Arbor, MI in 1991. Along his musical journey, he has picked up numerous praises and awards for his performances and recordings, such as the Emily Remler Guitar Scholarship award and winner of the 1992 WEMU Jazz competition for a vocal/guitar duo. While a noted bandleader and an in-demand sideman, Reichbart’s forte lies in his instrumental solo work, tastefully interpreting classic jazz and pop standards in his unique style.

Tad Weed is a powerhouse of a pianist who recently relocated from Los Angeles to Ann Arbor. Weed has performed with some of the greatest names in jazz including John Patitucci, Mundell Lowe, Carmen McCrae, Charles Lloyd and Woody Herman. His artistically rich and diverse background allows him to bring different influences to interpretations of the Duke Ellington program that he will be performing. He has played concerts, clubs, television and radio around the world, and he is in great demand for his piano clinics, offered in collaboration with other well-known pianists throughout the US.

ARTIST DEMONSTRATION

Have you ever marveled at the unfolding of a flower? Fiber artist Rebecca Lambers has made a life’s work of it. With a background as a couturiere and inspired by her love of gardens and the relationship
flowers have to their surroundings, Lambers creates exquisite silk flowers. In this artistic demonstration, attendees will have a chance to meet the artist whose work is on display in the gallery and glimpse the creative process behind the flowers. In addition to technical skill, Lambers will demonstrate her artistic approach to color, texture and form as she works on flowers using a variety of materials. This casual demonstration will allow you to ask questions of the artist and watch an individual flower take form.

PIANO MUSIC

Based out of Ann Arbor, Paul Wilhelm has been playing and performing on the piano for over 30 years. In addition to composing, performing and recording, he also conducts lessons out of his home. Wilhelm was formally trained in theory and composition at Madonna University in Livonia, but he attributes quite a bit of his solid musical background to 10 years of private instruction. His most recent CD is entitled Restoration, and he expects a new one to be coming out next year.
