Badgerow & Dexter19TH CENTURY VOCAL DUO
Dodworth Duo
The Dodworth Duo is committed to bringing life to the songs of the 19th century – principally those of the Dodworth era (1835‑1895). These include folk melodies of the railways and rivers of early America, popular ballads of the time, songs of soldiers and civilians of the War Between the States, music of Victorian opera and concert halls, songs of Steven Foster, and African American spirituals. The Duo's performances are interactive, historically informative and invite audience participation. Mezzo soprano Leah Dexter and classical tenor Ted Badgerow bring a variety of instruments into their music (guitar, banjo, fife, harmonica, pennywhistle) and are pleased to take period song requests from the audience.

TermanCLASSICAL CLARINET MUSIC
Clarinet Chamber Ensemble
Members of the U-M Life Sciences Orchestra

Mozart’s Clarinet Trio, premiered in 1786 with Mozart himself on the viola, represents a series of Mozart’s later masterworks heralding the clarinet’s entry into classical chamber music repertoire. Hummel, the virtuosic Hungarian piano student of Mozart, Haydn, Clementi and Salieri, wrote his airy Clarinet Quartet (c. 1807) in a style surely influenced by his Classical era teachers while transitioning to Romanticism. These two selections will be performed by Sam Terman (clarinet), Chester Chan (piano), Chase Schuler (violin), Stephanie Kirwan (viola) and Emily Bonem (cello).
