June Performances

JUMP SWING BLUES
by the Bluescasters

Members of the Bluescasters band all share a common creative desire to produce original, high energy songs. With all four band members having over 30 years of experience performing and recording, the group has developed a team approach to creating new songs. Using instrumental interplay, storyline lyrics and vocal harmonies, their songs are lively and engaging. With Kerry Adams on guitar and vocals, Harry Rodman on drums and vocals, Phil Ryski on harmonica, piano and guitar, and Doug Wolgat on bass, their creative chemistry is hot. Join the Bluescasters in the sun for the first Courtyard performance of the season.

FIDDLE MUSIC
by the Saline Fiddlers

Now in their thirteenth season, the Saline Fiddlers began with a simple idea: introduce an alternative style of music education to public school students. The group has grown into a model of instruction and motivation that is being emulated across the nation. The Saline Fiddlers present an energetic, polished stage show that includes music, song and dance from the traditions of American folk fiddle, bluegrass, jazz, western swing and Celtic music. The performers, all students at Saline High School, earn their places through competitive auditions based on musical ability and personal integrity.

CUBAN JAZZ
by Tumbao Bravo

Winner of the 2005 Detroit Music Award for Best Jazz Recording, Tumbao Bravo plays an exciting set of Afro Cuban jazz. Most of the compositions, which are rhythmic and rich in jazz harmonies, are written by band members. Tumbao Bravo's members include bandleader Paul VornHagen on sax, flute and piccolo, Alberto Nacif on congas, Javier Barrios on timbales, Jacob Chmara on bass and Sven Anderson on keyboard. Performing in and around the Ann Arbor/Detroit area, you might have heard them at the Detroit and Lansing Jazz Festivals, the Detroit Orchestra Hall and Music Hall, Baker's Keyboard Lounge or the Firefly Club.
