BRASS
IN THE COURTYARD
by the Burton Brass Quintet
You name it: jazz, classical, show tunes, ragtime, The Burton Brass
Quintet does it all. With Benjamin Albright and Jana Galloway on
trumpet, Matt Shevrin on horn, Brooks Barnes on trombone, and Gary
Supplee on tuba, this all brass quintet brings professional experience
and top-notch training from the U-M School of Music to a variety
of musical styles. Their repertoire ranges from fugues by Bach to
Debussy Preludes, from the light jazz of Fats Waller to show tunes
by Richard Rodgers. You might even hear an arrangement by Gilbert
and Sullivan or a medley of favorites from the 1890's or 1920's.

MELODIC
JAZZ FUNK
by JQube
JQube is a powerful instrumental trio which creatively fuses funk,
rock and jazz to create a sound all of its own. It was certainly
a match made in groove heaven when Ann Arbor based jazz guitar virtuoso
Jake Reichbart linked up with two of the most in demand rhythm players
around, drummer Dan Eichinger and bassist Jacob Chmara from the
now disbanded group, Smokestack. What started out as unique interpretations
of jazz standards and pop hits soon blossomed into a sound that
combines hard-hitting funk with a very concentrated melodic approach.
JQube now boasts a large repertoire of original tunes but still
has been known to offer their own take on popular songs by anyone
from Jimi Hendrix or the Police to the Pet Shop Boys.

JAZZ
STANDARDS
by Trio Indigo
Trio Indigo combines the talents of three veteran Michigan-born
musicians who have performed in the area for many years. With an
enduring affection and respect for the classic jazz literature,
Eric Nyhuis, Andy Sacks and Jerry Brabenec play tunes ranging from
Duke Ellington's popular American songs of the forties, to Ray Charles'
romping renditions of 32-bar standards, to Chick Corea's Moorish
influenced rhumbas.
