Research Areas
Dr. Lok’s research includes studies on the natural history and treatment of chronic hepatitis B and C, and prevention and treatment of recurrent hepatitis B and C after liver transplantation.
Study Projects
• Prevention of recurrent hepatitis B after
liver transplantation
• HBV recurrence rate and factors associated with recurrence
• Outcomes of liver transplant patients with hepatitis B
• Hepatitis C Antiviral Long-term Treatment
against Cirrhosis (HALT-C) trial
- Hepatocellular carcinoma – incidence, associating factors, predictive models, and biomarkers
- Hepatic steatosis and liver disease progression
• Adult-to-adult liver transplantation
- Outcomes of patients transplanted for hepatitis C and efficacy of pre-transplant antiviral therapy
• Antiviral drug-resistant HBV mutations: incidence and response to rescue therapies
• Hepatitis B patients with normal liver enzymes: liver histology and outcomes
•Eltrombopag in hepatitis C patients with thrombocytopenia, to enable initiation of peginterferon and ribavirin therapy
•New tratments for hepatitis B and C
