Objectives

Objectives of the Training Program

The primary aim of the Training Program in Gastroenterology is the development of successful academic gastroenterologists with investigative interests in a wide variety of areas ranging from purely clinical studies to basic science research. Recognizing, however, that the aspirations of fellowship candidates may change over time and that excellent physicians are required for health care delivery in the community, the Fellowship Program has a secondary goal of training competent practicing clinicians who maintain a lifelong scholarly interest in basic disease mechanisms.
