Metabolic Syndrome and Insulin Resistance in Post-Liver Transplant Patients

Metabolic Syndrome (MS) is a condition related to insulin resistance and includes the combination of diabetes, hypertension, abnormal cholesterol and obesity. Individual features of MS are common in post liver transplant patients. The purpose of the study is to determine how common metabolic syndrome is in those who undergo liver transplant and to see if there are associated features of developing MS in the post liver transplant setting.

Main Inclusion Criteria

Single Study Visit

*Labs billed to the patient or their insurer is comprehensive metabolic panel and cholesterol.  If the patient is diabetic the hemoglobin A1C will be billed to the patient and/or insurer as part of standard of care for diabetic patients.

*Labs sent to MDRTC is a storage sample and insulin and is funded by a GCRC grant.
