Conferences

Monday at 4:30 p.m.

GI Clinical Conference - In general, the first and third Monday of each month will consist of a clinical journal club and State-of-the-Art update talk. The second Monday will consist of the presentation of practical clinical cases seen in the inpatient or outpatient arena. The last conference of the month will be a presentation of inpatient cases by our clinical service. One case will be presented by the VA service, one by the consultative service and one by either the liver or the GI inpatient service. In addition four histopathology conferences miscellaneous pediatric, surgical and radiology conferences are integrated into this conference during the year.

Monday from 5:30 to 7:30

Research in Progress Seminar - Monthly dinner meeting, held in the MSRB-I Conference Room. Presentation of research conducted by GI faculty and fellows.

Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., MSRB-I Conference Room GI/Hepatology

Physiology/Pathophysiology Course - The first and second Wednesday of each month is devoted to a core curriculum physiology/pathophysiology GI/Hepatology course taught by the faculty and focused at the level of the fellow.
Clinical Seminars - Third Wednesday of each month with a GI faculty member informally discussing a clinical topic/cases within an area of his/her interest.
Basic Science Journal Club - Meeting on the 4th Wednesday of every month to review recent papers and in-depth review of articles by assigned fellow with faculty member preceptor.

Wednesday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., MPU Conference Room

Endoscopy Conference - Bimonthly, held at Medical Procedures Unit Conference Room - internal reviews and topical discussions usually focusing on ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound.

Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.

Liver Journal Club - Weekly, held at the MSRB-I Conference Room. Review of recent papers in basic and clinical hepatology . (Includes: liver pathology and case presentations once per month and discussion of clinical cases and research initiatives in hepatology).

Thursday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., MSRB-I Conference Room

Michigan Gastrointestinal Peptide Research - Seminars will take place on the 3rd Thursday of the month, with presentations of up-to-date research in peptide hormones by members of the Center and invited guests.

Fridays

Department of Internal Medicine Grand Rounds - Weekly at noon, held at the University Hospital Ford Auditorium.
Chief's Conference - Monthly meeting with GI Fellows and Dr. Owyang to discuss arising issues.
