Cirrhosis Functional Ability

Objective

Patients with cirrhosis may experience a decline in their thinking ability and memory, physical ability and endurance, muscle strength, balance, and other functions. We want to try to identify the limitations that lead to functional disabilities in older cirrhosis patients.

Design

Patients will undergo surveys, blood draw, CT scan, food diary, physical/cognitive testing. Patients will also wear an armband to collect data about physical activity.

Inclusion criteria

Age 50 and older with a clinical diagnosis of cirrhosis.

Fitbit Ancillary Study

Objective

Patients with cirrhosis may experience a decline in their thinking ability and memory, physical ability and endurance, muscle strength, balance, and other functions. We want to try to identify the limitations that lead to functional disabilities in older cirrhosis patients.

Design

Patients will wear a pedometer (Fitbit) for 1 month and upload step-count information via the internet.

Inclusion criteria

Age 50 and older with a clinical diagnosis of cirrhosis.
