Geriatrics Center Research Laboratories
We provide here links to web pages describing the research programs of University of Michigan faculty members. In 2002, the six faculty members located in Geriatrics Center space managed 42 different extramurally funded research projects. Topics of Geriatrics Center research include a diverse range of topics and projects:
- Interleukin-6 and prostate cancer progression
- Beta-cell responsiveness to graded glucose infusion in subjects with type 2 diabetes
- Identifying the gene for Hereditary spastic paraplegia
- Gender-specific T cell homing and autoimmunity
- Age-dependent changes in DNA methylation

- Comprehensive Programs to Strengthen Physicians' Training in Geriatrics
This activity was supported by $7,731,000 of annual research grant support. Geriatrics Center faculty members also served as Directors of training and core grants supported by an additional $1,486,000 of funding annually.
