The UV laser in the Cancer Center lab is installed and functional. We have also purchased a spare laser, so that in the case of future failures, we will not experience the down times we've had in the past. The new FACSVantage SE (dual-laser) is undergoing final testing this week.

In order to address the need for additional access to the flow core, we've purchased and are awaiting delivery on a new two-laser FACSVantage SE for the lab in the Cancer Center. It is expected that this machine will be up and running by March 1st at the latest. In addition, the core will add two full-time employees to the staff in order to allow for maximum facility access. In addition we are pursuing the purchase on an additional sorter in order to increase the pool of instruments available for primary human tissue. As a result of these latest additions to the core, there is an adjustment being made to the recharge rate effective March 1, 2008. We will continue to review the rates versus expected core usage and lower them whenever possible.

The CCGC UV laser is down. The unit has been shipped and is being repaired at this time. It is expected to be back in operation within two weeks.

November 15, 2007

In order to increase access to critical instrumentation, an additional FACSCalibur has been added to the Cytometry Core's main lab (CCGC). In addition, we've added a 3-laser FACSCanto II analyzer to the main lab as well. These instruments are available 24/7 for interested parties. Training for both instruments is available. Call with any questions or to schedule an appointment.

A FACSCanto II analyzer and a FACSAria cell sorter have been added to the LSI facility (see instrumentation page). These instruments are unstaffed and are available for individual investigator usage. Training is available upon request. Life Science Institute investigators as well as members of the Center for Stem Cell Biology may schedule these instruments one month in advance. All other users may schedule them one week in advance.
