Fetal MRI

Fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is another imaging test that offers physicians information about anatomic structures. This test does not use radiation to obtain the images, but rather a magnetic field creates pictures for evaluation. It is safe for pregnant woman and fetuses. The MRI can supplement the information obtained from the fetal ultrasound and can provide additional information regarding the fetal brain that cannot be obtained from ultrasound. The MRI can also provide information about other structures that may guide management after delivery.
