The Engineering Section of Facilities Planning and Development provides mechanical
and electrical engineering support to the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health
Centers. This support includes all of the engineering aspects associated with the
renovations of our existing facilities, the design of new facilities, and to the renewal and
expansions to our infrastructure support systems.
The supported infrastructure systems include the heating, cooling and ventilation
systems, the various plumbing systems, interior and exterior lighting, normal and
emergency electrical power systems, and other like essential infrastructure systems. As
renovations are made to existing buildings, and new buildings are added, the affects of
those changes to the infrastructure systems, and to our compliance with applicable codes,
are evaluated.
