White Coats for Planetary Health is a medical student organization founded by students who were inspired to address climate change and its impact on health. Our goal is to foster education and awareness surrounding this topic as well as sustainable practices within the University of Michigan Medical School and Health System. We are working with the Health System on its intersection with the President's Commission on Carbon Neutrality, creating curricula regarding sustainable healthcare education, delivering a newsletter regularly to medical students, and working with the medical school on how to improve the sustainability of its events. We aim to mitigate the public health crisis that climate change will cause, and to change the way we deliver healthcare such that it is healthy for the planet as well as our patients.
