Directions for Registering for Clinical & Health Research Studies in Engage

  1. Go to www.umengage.org
  2. If you do not have a UM Login and are not already a member of the Registry, you will need to get a University of Michigan 'Friends' account in order to enter the registry. Click on the "Register Now" button on the left hand side of the Engage home page.
    If you have a current U of M login or friends account proceed to # 10 to continue enrollment process.
  3. On the next page, press the "New Guest Account" button.
  4. A new window will open up for you to set up a 'friends account'
  5. Enter your email address and press the "request" button
  6. A email will be sent to your email address containing the registration information
  7. You will then need to check the email account that you listed. Then visit the link listed in email
  8. Click Link "enter your email address and create a password for your account"
    You will receive a confirmation e-mail message with links to our password changing and password reset web sites in a few moments. The next step is to visit a U-M web resource. When you see the login page, you will need to provide your login ID and password before you can access the web resource.
  9. You will receive an email with the Subject: "U-M: Your New Friend Account"
  10. return to www.umengage.org
  11. On the home page, click on the "Members / UM ID" button on the left.
  12. You will be taken to the log-in screen. Enter your email address for your Log-in ID and then enter the password you created for this account.
  13. The Engage Registry welcome should appear. Choose one of the following options through the links provided:
    1. Enroll yourself as a volunteer
    2. Enroll a child as a volunteer
    3. If you would like to enroll an adult, other than yourself, as a Volunteer
  14. After clicking on a link, you will be taken through 4 pages of information about the Registry, and will ask for your understanding and consent. Press "continue" at the bottom of each of these pages, until page #4, which will ask you to either "agree" or "not agree" to participate in the Registry. After choosing, click "Continue".
  15. You will then be taken through more pages asking your study preferences, contact information, and basic health information. After answering each question, click "continue" to get to the next page. The questions with asterisk by them (*) are required in order to successfully complete enrollment. The others are optional.
  16. After completing all the required questions, you are successfully enrolled!
  17. If you would like to answer additional Health Questions please click on the designated links provided. These questions will provide study teams information that may help further determine if you are eligible for a particular research study.
