Please help us celebrate Dia de la Familia Latina. The day will include a mariachi band, special appearance by the Detroit Tigers' mascot PAWS and dance performances by MSALSA/a children's folklore group. In addition, there will be a showing of a short film entitled "Unnatural Causes: Becoming American" that focuses on health issues in recent Mexican and other Latino immigrants. A discussion of the film will be facilitated by Dr. Melissa Valerio, assistant professor in the U-M School of Public Health. The day will also include health screenings, workshops, community resource tables, refreshments, children's games and door prizes. This is a free event, and the Community Engagement Program will be there as well, with information about Engage and how to learn more about clinical and health research.
