Our Focus

Congratulation, Andrew Wong, M1, received William Spivey Award from Emergency Medicine Foundation

We study the pathophysiology of and investigate new treatments for acute lung injury and acute respiratory failure. Particular interests include the mechanisms leading to lung edema and functional failure and laboratory techniques that can be used to quantify such changes. We are particularly interested in the role of complement activation in the development of injury and interactions between complement and bacterial pathogens in the lung. We are using the knowledge gained in this work to examine potential new therapies for lung injury.
