| The Department of Emergency Medicine
is home to a nationally recognized research program in both clinical
and laboratory aspects of emergency medicine. Our academic department receives over $2 million annually in extramural
funding from the Departments of Health and Human Services, Defense,
and Transportation.
Our goals are these:
• To conduct research that will improve the care of our patients
• To sustain an environment in which our faculty may successfully
pursue their research interests
• To foster the development of the next generation of emergency
medicine investigators through training programs for undergraduate,
medical student, graduate student, resident, fellow, and post-doctoral
scientists.
• To extend national research service and leadership through
activities with professional organizations, academic groups and
governmental groups.
