| Visitors Policy
We are pleased that you have come to the Emergency Department to
support your loved one. To provide for patient privacy and confidentiality
and to ensure the safety of all patients, visitors and staff, we
ask that visitors follow these guidelines:
- A pass will be necessary for entrance into the treatment
area and may be obtained from the check-in clerk. The
pass may be exchanged among different visitors for the same patient
in order to allow more than one visitor the opportunity to visit
with the patient. However, we ask that you do not give your pass
to a visitor for another patient to prevent unauthorized entry
into the treatment area. Please discard your pass when the patient
is discharged from the Emergency Department.
- Two visitors per patient will be allowed in the treatment
area. Visitation by minor children may be approved based
on hospital policy. Please see the Unit Host in the waiting room
for clarification and screening. At times it may be necessary
to remove all visitors from the treatment area. Please cooperate
with our security staff if this occurs.
- All visitors require staff chaperone from entry into
the treatment area. If you should need to leave the treatment
area for any reason, please see the Unit Host before returning
to the patient's bedside.
- Please stay with the patient you are visiting.
The Emergency Department can fill with patients very quickly.
It is important for patient privacy and safety that visitors stay
in the patient's room.
- If you were not able to accompany the patient to the
treatment area, please see the Unit Host. The Unit Host
will check to see if the patient is ready for visitors. Please
be patient and give us time to give your family/friend the care
they came to the Emergency Department to receive.
- Visitors may be asked to return to the waiting room
when the patient leaves the department for tests or during certain
procedures or exams.
- Patient charts are confidential. The information
on computer screens is also private. Please do not touch the computers
or read the information on the screens.
