The Emergency Department staff are specialists in emergency care and are committed to providing the highest quality patient care.

The University of Michigan Medical Center is a teaching hospital. You will see medical students and residents in addition to the hospital's faculty physicians. Medical Students and residents are closely supervised by a faculty physician. There is always a Board Certified Emergency Medicine faculty physician on duty in the department.

Our Emergency team wears color coordinated scrubs to assist patients and families in identifying who's who.

Registered Nurses - navy blue
Emergency Techs - olive green
Emergency Clerks - burgundy
Registration Clerks - khaki
Unit Hosts - purple
Medical Students - short white coats
Residents, Physician Assistants,and Faculty Physicians - long white coats

In addition to our emergency team, we have access to all the specialties of the University of Michigan Health System. Although this team approach may take more time, we feel we are giving you the best care by relying on the professional advice of many people trained in emergency care. Because many people may take part in your care, it may seem a bit confusing and overwhelming. If you have any questions about your care, please talk with your nurse.
