Professional Summary:
Dr. Terry Kowalenko graduated from the University Of Chicago Pritzker
School Of Medicine, and completed an Emergency Medicine Residency
at the University of Cincinnati. He has been an Attending at Henry
Ford Hospital, Wayne State University – Sinai/Grace Hospital,
University of Michigan and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He has been
a Program Director at Wayne State University – Sinai/Grace
Emergency Medicine Residency and is currently the Program Director
at the University of Michigan/St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Emergency
Medicine Residency. He has been actively involved in multiple professional
organizations, including American College of Emergency Physicians,
Michigan College of Emergency Physicians, Society for Academic Emergency
Medicine, Council of Residency Directors, and American Medical Association.
He has been involved in medical education and research throughout
his career. His current research interests include education and
Emergency Department workplace violence.

This was an American College of Emergency Physicians Chapter Grant awarded to the Michigan College of Emergency Physicians to evaluate the prevalence of violence against Emergency Department attendings and whether more education was desired by physicians.

The Efficacy Trial of Diaspirin Cross-Linked Hemoglobin (DCLHbTM) in the Treatment of Severe Hemorrhagic Shock
This grant was awarded to multiple sites involved in the multi-center study to assess the efficacy of this hemoglobin substitute in emergency treatment of hemorrhagic shock. The study was terminated prior to patient recruitment at Henry Ford Hospital.
