Course Objectives

This course is designed for medical professionals including physicians, physicians-in-training, nurses, paramedics, EMTs, physician assistants, and medical students interested in learning more and developing their skill set in wilderness medicine. The course will include lectures and hands-on sessions.  In addition, specific workshops will be available, including sea kayaking rescue and high-angle rescue, in order to practice hands-on skills.  The goal will be to teach an understanding of the austere environment, application of wilderness medicine knowledge to regional wilderness medical situations, and increase confidence and skill sets related to the practice of medicine in low-resource primitive environments.
