| ECMO Specialist Training Course

The ECMO training course is offered on an average of once per year and sometimes as often as every 6 months, depending on demand. The course is designed as an ECMO Specialist Training Course and is taught in a classroom-style setting. Participants have the opportunity for "hands-on" experience with circuit priming and wet drills. The course covers the following topics:
- Introduction to ECLS
- Physiology of ECLS
- Cannulation procedures
- Nursing Care of the ECLS
- Introduction to ECLS circuits
- SVO2: Oxygen supply/demand
- VA bypass physiology and management
- VA bypass scenarios
- Priming/Initiation of bypass
- Priming Circuits (hands on)
- VV physiology and management
- VV case scenarios
- Anticoagulation
- Medical management of the Neonatal ECLS Patient
- Medical management of the Pediatric ECLS Patient
- Management of Pediatric Cardiac ECLS
- Medical management of the Adult ECLS Patient
- Hemofiltration
- Blood Products required for ECMO
- Wet drills
Course space is usually limited to maximize the hands on experience and address questions and issues.
We offer a continental breakfast each morning and afternoon refreshments each day of the course. Meals and lodging are not included.
