The U-M Brehm Investigators are a group of University of Michigan researchers representing a variety of scientific areas who are dedicated to bringing their unique skills to address the puzzle of type 1 diabetes. They have been brought together to help accelerate the pace toward delivering new discoveries to help individuals with type 1 diabetes by taking an interdisciplinary approach. U-M Brehm Investigators also collaborate with other diabetes researchers at the University of Michigan and around the world.
The work of the U-M Brehm Investigators is made possible by a generous gift from Dee and Bill Brehm, whose personal mission is to apply the tools of research and analysis to find and deliver a cure for type 1 diabetes. In addition to the U-M Brehm Investigators, the Brehms have provided major support for other diabetes efforts at the University of Michigan, such as the establishment of the Brehm and Soderquist Professorships, as well as contributing significant funding for the Brehm Center for Type 1 Diabetes Research and Analysis.
In 2010, a number of the U-M Brehm Investigators, as well as the Brehm and Soderquist Professors, will locate to the new Brehm Center Building for Type 1 Diabetes Research and Analysis. The high-tech center will house many U-M diabetes researchers under one roof, to synergize their work to search for a cure.
