Support Groups for Adults with Diabetes
The U-M Comprehensive Diabetes Center offers several free support groups for adults and seniors living with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, facilitated by UMHS Diabetes Education Program staff. In addition, U-M Orthotics & Prosthetics sponsors an amputee support group, and there is a club for U-M students and their friends, called U-M Students for Diabetes Awareness.
In these groups, you can share your experiences, gain support and understanding, and focus on issues that are important to you. With the guidance of others with diabetes, as well as professional UMHS staff, you can receive information, support, and hope — and learn how to improve your diabetes self-care.
