Molecular mechanisms of skin remodeling following cosmetic microdermabrasion

Darius Karimipour, M.D.

Dr. Karimipour is investigating the molecular and clinical effects of microdermabrasion, a highly popular cosmetic procedure. His work has outlined the possible mechanisms through which microdermabrasion may contribute to skin remodeling. By breaking down microdermabrasion into "the sum of its parts", this research is also evaluating which components of the microdermabrasion procedure are most necessary for skin remodeling. Dr. Karimipour is currently evaluating the clinical and molecular effects of microdermabrasion on photoaged facial skin.
