"I used the valet parking when I came for my visit. It was fabulous—I felt like a queen!"
At the University of Michigan's CDLC, all treatments are performed by a board-certified dermatologist with specialized training in cosmetic skin and laser treatments. Your CDLC physician will be personally involved in your treatment plan, from the initial consultation, to treatment, to follow-up--making sure you receive the best patient care every step of the way. This is in contrast to certain other cosmetic treatment centers, where medical assistants and other staff persons are responsible for creating a treatment plan and even performing the actual procedures.

At the first consultation, your treatment cost will be determined based upon your specific treatment needs. Costs vary significantly between individuals based on various clinical criteria including: the skin region to be treated (such as, face, arm, chest), the size of the treatment area and the treatment technique best suited to meet your needs. A single treatment can range from $200 to $3400 or more depending on the treatment you and your physician choose to pursue.

Your initial visit to the U-M CDLC will involve a consultation and evaluation with your treating physician. During the consultation, you and your CDLC physician will discuss together what your goals are and how best to achieve them. Your consultation will last as long as needed to fully address your concerns and lay out various treatment options. This may be as little as five minutes or perhaps 30 minutes or more. At the conclusion of your first visit with us, you will have an individualized treatment plan and a clear idea about what to expect during the procedure and how much the procedure will cost.

"Laser" stands for "Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation." Lasers work by producing an intense beam of bright light that may be used to treat wrinkles, scars, blood vessel lesions, pigmented lesions, tattoos and unwanted hair.
The laser has the unique ability to produce one specific color (wavelength) of light, which can be varied in its intensity. There are many lasers, each producing a specific wavelength of light for a specific purpose. The newest laser systems have become remarkably precise and selective, allowing for better treatment results and safety levels not previously available.
