The Future of Dermatology: Educating Residents, Medical Students and Physicians
An important element in our overall mission is to provide exceptional basic science and clinical training - for medical students, residents, fellows, and physicians. At the University of Michigan Department of Dermatology, our faculty are experts in their fields, leading a wide range of clinical and research endeavors. As a world-class academic institution, our students thrive in an unparalleled intellectual environment that provides a remarkable opportunity for us to train future dermatology leaders in the treatment and understanding of skin disease.
We welcome your interest in our programs and invite you to learn more about us and the U-M community.
Combining patient care experience with didactic learning, our resident physicians become masters of the diagnosis, treatment and basic understanding of the skin.
Our department provides rotations for fourth-year medical students with an interest in dermatology. In addition, our intensive dermatology teaching sequence for second-year medical students received the American Academy of Dermatology's National Award for Excellence in Education.
Through our NIH training grant, we offer residents and medical students who seek a career in academic dermatology the opportunity to gain clinical research experience and additional basic research experience by extending our residency program to four years.
