Duane
DiFranco, MD is Medical Director, the Michigan
Center for Diagnosis and Referral. He completed his
M.D. at University of Michigan. Dr. DiFranco's research
interests focus on behavioral health services. Clinical
interests include general adult psychiatry and brief
dynamic psychotherapy. |
Psychiatry
 |
Kevin
Kerber, MD is a Clinical Assistant Professor
in the Department of Psychiatry. He completed both his
undergraduate and medical school training at the University
of Michigan. He served as chief resident during his
residency training and joined the faculty in 1984. He
served as Medical Director of the Managed Care Program
prior to his work in the Ambulatory Division and Depression
Center. He was honored with the title of Teacher of
the Year in 2000 for his outstanding teaching of residents
in Psychiatry. His principle interest within psychiatry
is in the area of men's psychology and depression outreach
and collaborative care. |

Ziad
Kronfol, MD is an Associate Professor in the
Department of Psychiatry. He earned his MD from the
American University of Beirut. He then completed his
residency training in psychiatry at the faculty at the
University of Michigan in 1986 and has since been active
in teaching, research and clinical care. His clinical
interests include the pharmacological treatment of bipolar
disorders and treatment-resistant depression. His research
interests include the relation between the brain and
the immune system and the effects of stress and depression
on the course of medical illness. |
Nursing

Charlotte
Allport, MS, RN, NP has worked in psychiatry
since 1989, starting on the adult inpatient psychiatric
unit at the University of Michigan. Prior to working
in psychiatry, she worked in both medical-surgical nursing
and in home care/hospice. Currently, she is a Care Navigator
with the Depression Center's M-DOCC program and co-facilitator
with the outpatient dialectical behavioral therapy group.
Charlotte is also enrolled in the University of Michigan
School of Nursing Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Program. |

Julie
Kuebler, MS, RN, NP has worked in Psychiatry
at the University of Michigan on Adult Inpatient and
Child/Adolescent Inpatient Units since 1984. She is
currently a staff nurse in Adult Outpatient Ambulatory
Psychiatry. Julie is a Care Navigator for the Depression
Center's M-DOCC program and coordinates the Meds Plus
Clinic. Julie is enrolled in the University of Michigan
School of Nursing Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Program. |

Sharon
Mudd, MS, RN, CS, NP is a Clinical Nurse Specialist
in Psychiatry and a licensed Nurse Practitioner. While
pursuing her master's degree from the University of
Michigan, she received a trainee award from the National
Institute of Mental Health and was named in Who's Who
Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.
Sharon has worked in the University of Michigan Department
of Psychiatry for over ten years serving clinical, research,
and administrative roles. She has published and conducted
research in the areas of behavior change, depression
in women over the reproductive life cycle, and substance
abuse treatment and currently works in the area of mood
disorders in women, with special interest in the area
of fertility. |
Social Work
 |
Vivien Hsu, MSW received her training at Smith College
School of Social Work. Since 1971, she has worked in
various mental health and family counseling settings
providing therapy to children and adults, couples and
families. Ms. Hsu currently delivers a range of services
to the adult population. Her therapy skills include
expertise in grief and loss, interpersonal conflicts,
occupational stressors, child abuse and parenting concerns.
She came to the University of Michigan Department of
Psychiatry in 1993. |

Vanessa
Korn, MSW has been active within the University
of Michigan Health Center Department of Social Work
for the past two decades. Her clinical areas of interest
include the treatment of mood disorders, with special
emphasis on individuals impacted by trauma or abuse.
She has provided couples counseling, and couples communication
groups both within psychiatric and primary care settings.
Vanessa has also been active administratively within
Psychiatric Social work, and involved in numerous projects
having to do with clinical redesign within Ambulatory
Services and the Depression Center. She is a graduate
of the University of Michigan School of Social Work. |

Claire Weiner, MSW received her undergraduate degree
at the University of Illinois and master's degree at
the University of Chicago. Her range of experience and
interests include older adults, grief and loss, cognitive
behavioral therapy for depression, and individuals and
couples. She is currently involved in an initiative
which will broaden the mental health services to the
Cancer Center providing group therapy. She has been
a social work field instructor for thirteen years at
the University of Michigan. |
