Child & Adolescent Depression Team
Team Leader
 |
Cheryl King, PhD, is Director of the Child and Adolescent
Depression Program (CADP) and an Associate Professor
in the Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology. She
is also Chief Psychologist and Director of Psychology
Training in the Department of Psychiatry. She completed
her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Indiana
University, a clinical internship at Indiana University
School of Medicine, and a postdoctoral fellowship at
the Lafayette Clinic in Detroit, Michigan. Her research
interests include youth depression and suicide prevention,
with a specific focus on the development and evaluation
of innovative intervention strategies. Dr. King's clinical
interests include the broad spectrum of psychosocial
interventions for youth with depression. |
Psychiatry
 |
Neera Ghaziuddin, MD is an Associate Professor of
Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry at the University
of Michigan. She completed her medical degree at Delhi
University in India, her residency in London, England,
and her fellowship in Child Psychiatry at the University
of Michigan Medical School. Her research interests include
the biology of adolescent depression, treatment strategies
for refractory depression, and electroconvulsive therapy.
Dr. Ghaziuddin's clinical interests include depression
and psychosis, and psychopharmacological treatments
for these illnesses. |

Gregory Hanna, MD is an Associate Professor in the
Department of Psychiatry. He completed his medical degree
at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine and
his internship and residency at the University of Michigan
Medical School. He completed his clinical and research
fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the
UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Hanna's research interests
include the genetics of obsessive-compulsive disorder
and depression. His clinical interests include anxiety
and mood disorders. |

Paresh Patel, MD, PhD is a Research Investigator
at MHRI and an Assistant Professor in the Department
of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan. Upon earning
his medical and doctoral degrees at the University of
Michigan Medical School, he completed his internship,
residency in General Psychiatry, and fellowship in Child
and Adolescent Psychiatry at Stanford University Medical
School. His research interests include stress biology,
genetics of psychiatric illnesses, transgenic models
of behavioral illnesses, and pharmacogenetics. Dr. Patel's
clinical interests include mood disorders, psychopharmacology,
and attention deficit disorder. |
Nursing
 |
James Smith, RN is a nurse in the outpatient services
of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of
Michigan. His clinical interests include childhood and
adolescent depression, attention deficit-hyperactivity
disorder, and other childhood psychiatric illness. As
a care manager within the Child and Adolescent Depression
Program, his role includes facilitating treatment, providing
patient and family education, and responding to family
needs. |
Social Work
 |
Anne Kramer, MSW is an advanced Clinical Social Worker
in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of
Michigan. She completed a Masters Degree in Social Work
at the University of Michigan. Her research interests
include adolescent depression, youth suicide prevention,
and the evaluation of intervention programs. Her clinical
interests include child and adolescent behavioral health,
the development of new services and programs for youth,
and patient and family education. |

Katharene Schoof, MSW, ACSW is an advanced Clinical
Social Worker in the Department of Psychiatry at the
University of Michigan. She completed a master's degree
in Social Work at the University of Michigan. Her clinical
interests include child and adolescent depression, post
-traumatic stress disorder, other anxiety and disruptive
behavior illnesses, and adoption issues. Katharene specializes
in psychosocial therapies, including group interventions
for depressed children and adolescents. |

Melissa Webster, MSW is a Clinical Social Worker
in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of
Michigan. She completed a master's degree in Social
Work at the University of Michigan. Her clinical interests
include child and adolescent depression, obsessive compulsive
disorder, reactive attachment disorder, and post traumatic
stress disorder. Her research interests include depression
and obsessive compulsive disorder. Melissa specializes
in cognitive behavioral therapies. |
