Heather Flynn, PhD is an Assistant Research Scientist in the Division of Substance Abuse. Trained as a clinical psychologist, her primary research interests include depression and alcohol use, particularly in women, as well as prevention and brief intervention with mental health and substance abuse in primary care settings. Dr. Flynn has conducted research and published in the area of depression including vulnerability factors for depression, time series methodology, and the recurrent nature of depression. She has also worked on studies involving large-scale screening for depression and alcohol problems. Dr. Flynn is conducting a project aimed at identification of, and intervention with, alcohol use and depression in pregnancy.

Joseph Himle, PhD received his doctorate from the joint program in Social Work and Psychology at the University of Michigan. He completed his clinical internship at the University of Michigan Department of Psychiatry. He joined the faculty at the University of Michigan in 1995. His research interests and current projects include specialized cognitive-behavioral treatment groups for patients with anxiety and depressive illness, pediatric anxiety disorder identification and treatment as a depression prevention strategy, serotonin transporter genotyping as a predictor of response to psychosocial treatments in depression, and depression as a predictor of outcome in the CBT treatment of primary anxiety illnesses.

Cheryl King, PhD, Director - Child and Adolescent Depression Program is Director of the Child and Adolescent Depression Program (CADP) and an Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology. She is also Chief Psychologist and Director of Psychology Training in the Department of Psychiatry. She completed her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Indiana University, a clinical internship at Indiana University School of Medicine, and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Lafayette Clinic in Detroit, Michigan. Her research interests include youth depression and suicide prevention, with a specific focus on the development and evaluation of innovative intervention strategies. Dr. King's clinical interests include the broad spectrum of psychosocial interventions for youth with depression.

Michele VanEtten-Lee, PhD received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at University of Vermont, with postdoctoral fellowships at Johns Hopkins University and University of Michigan. Her research interests include cognitive and behavior therapies for obsessive compulsive disorder, panic in primary care settings, and non-cardiac chest pain and panic-spectrum disorders. Dr. VanEtten-Lee's clinical interests include treatment of anxiety disorders, cognitive behavioral therapy, and social phobia group therapy.
