Our focus at the Cardiac Arrhythmia Service is the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal heart rhythms, or arrhythmia. Arrhythmias result from problems within the heart's electrical system, and symptoms can include palpitations, skipped beats, rapid heart rates or heart racing, dizziness and/or fainting, and sudden death.
We provide comprehensive diagnostic and interpretative services and treatment (PDF) options including:
- Diagnostic electrophysiology testing
- Catheter ablation of all types of arrhythmias including:
- Atrial fibrillation
- Atrial flutter
- Supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT)
- PVCs (Premature Ventricular Contractions) and ventricular tachycardia
- Implantation and evaluation of pacemakers
- Implantation and evaluation of implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD)
- Implantation and evaluation of cardiac resynchronization therapy devices (biventricular ICD)
- Evaluation and treatment of syncope and inherited electrical abnormalities of the heart
- Pharmacologic (drug) therapy as appropriate
