Aortic Valve and Thoracic Aortic Disease
Director: George Michael Deeb, M.D.
The aortic multidisciplinary clinic was created to address diseases of the aortic valve and thoracoabdominal aorta. Our physicians, who come from several disciplines including cardiovascular surgery, cardiology and radiology, provide patients and referring physicians with state of the art therapy.
Examples of the services available include:
- Medical management of patients with heart failure resulting from aortic valve disease
- Operative therapy of aortic aneurysms
- Minimally invasive endovascular stenting of the aorta
- Long term care of patients with aneurysms for dissections, particularly management of hypertension and other associated cardiovascular disease
Our surgeons maintain one of the largest practices in North America for patients with aortic valve and thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic disease. We have the largest regional experience with the placement of stentless aortic valves, treatment of aortic aneurysm and dissection, performance of valve sparing operations on the aortic root, use of hypothermic circulatory arrest procedures, and endovascular stenting of the aorta. In addition, we have been involved in multiple clinical trials investigating newer alternative options for our patients.
