Adult Congenital Heart Program

The University of Michigan Health System treats the largest number of adult patients with congenital heart disease in the state of Michigan. U-M surgeons perform the most heart surgeries on adults and children with congenital heart disease in the state which translates into experienced care.
The U-M Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program participates in ongoing research related or congenital heart disease in adults.

This clinic provides outpatient evaluation and follow-up for patients, 18 and over, with congenital heart disease. Our services include:
- Adult structural and interventional cardiac catheterization services
- Specialized adult congenital MRI, with MRI’s interpreted by the only congenitally trained cardiac MRI specialists in the State of Michigan
- Multidisciplinary Adult Congenital Arrhythmia services, with joint visits with congenital cardiology, adult electrophysiology specialists and pediatric cardiology specialists
- Same day surface echocardiograms
- Pregnancy and contraceptive counseling
- Continued follow-up and consultation with pediatric or adult surgery, pediatric cardiology and high-risk obstetrics
- Pre-operative evaluation for patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery
- Clinical social work
