Because so much still needs to be learned about HCM, and about how best to treat it, the U-M HCM clinic has an active research program. Patients and families can assist in this search for new options by agreeing to participate in clinical trials and to allow their tissues, genetic samples and/or data to be used in research.
If you have HCM, or you know that the condition runs in your family, go to the Engage website to find studies that are currently seeking participants.
U-M is also an active research site for basic, laboratory studies of heart muscle cell structure and function. Scientists who study the heart may help accelerate the search for HCM treatments and accurate screening tests.
