Peripheral Vascular Disease:
Quality Interventions and Improvement (PVD=QI2)
The purpose of the PVD-QI2 project is to develop a statewide registry, which will allow identification of indications for the procedures, predictors of peri-procedure and six-month clinical outcomes, and appropriateness of percutaneous interventions. Additional goals include measurement of quality improvement initiatives to maximize evidence based preventive therapy for patients with atherosclerosis (β – blockers, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, antiplatelet therapy, statins) and modify risk factors (smoking cessation, optimum blood pressure control, low fat diet, regular exercise). The project will include development of a vigorous quality improvement program through which physicians and other caregivers participating in this project will be provided with overall and operator specific indications, patient outcomes, risk adjusted outcomes, and resource use, with the opportunity to identify improvement opportunities and reassessment during a later phase.
