Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Cardiovascular Consortium (BMC2)

The University of Michigan Health System is the Coordinating Center for this initiative which is evaluating and improving outcomes in percutaneous coronary intervention.

BMC2 is a multi-center PCI registry in the State of Michigan. The specific goals of the registry are

  1. to develop and validate risk-adjustment models for fatal and nonfatal outcomes of percutaneous coronary interventions,
  2. to develop a continuous quality improvement program in PCI, and
  3. to prospectively evaluate appropriateness of PCI procedures.

BMC2 currently has data on over 45,000 consecutive procedures from 18 hospitals in Michigan. The BMC2 Registry has been on-going since 1997.
