Visiting a patient
The best medicine often comes from family and friends. University Hospital's general visiting hours are 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. If you are not able to come during these hours, talk to the floor nurse about unit-specific visiting policies.
Please keep these guidelines in mind when visiting:
- Generally, it is best not to visit hospitalized patients when you are ill.
- Patients often have special needs for food or beverages. Please check with the nurse before bringing or giving the patient extra food or beverages.
- Patient bathrooms are for use by patients only. There are public rest rooms throughout the building for visitors.
- Patient rooms can comfortably accommodate two visitors at a time. When there are several visitors, please use the patient/visitor lounges on each unit as these areas can more easily accommodate larger groups.
- Requests for overnight visits should be directed to the nurse for specific unit guidelines.
If you have additional questions, please call 734-936-6641.
