In An Emergency

The University of Michigan Hospital's Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For serious or life-threatening emergencies, such as a suspected heart attack, you may need to obtain emergency care first and contact your primary care physician within 24 hours afterward.

For less serious injuries and illnesses, our Minor Emergency Care Area is open 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., Monday through Friday, and 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Free parking is adjacent to the Emergency Department.

Adult Emergency: (734) 936-6666

The Cardiovascular Center has an ambulance bay, but it not set up to triage patients. Emergency patients who are transported by ambulance or stretcher to the Cardiovascular Center will be transported to a specific area in the Cardiovascular Center, as directed by the Emergency Department at University Hospital, Survival Flight or another area within the Health System.
