About The U-M Cardiovascular Center

Comprehensive Cardiovascular Care

Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of Americans today. It's that simple – and that devastating for those whose conditions go untreated. Each day, new strides are being made in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The University of Michigan is on the forefront of innovative, advanced efforts to combat the magnitude of cardiovascular disease. We're doing it with top-quality medical teams, cutting-edge research and our latest initiative, the exciting Cardiovascular Center's new clinical building.

In September of 2000, plans for a University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center (CVC) were approved by the U-M Board of Regents. Then, as now, the concept of the U-M CVC was to bring together the many outstanding cardiovascular resources across the U-M Health System to better serve patients young and old, and to advance human knowledge through research and education.

While we began as a "virtual" center, existing in locations throughout the Health System campus, the CVC will take shape as an exciting, new state-of-the-art clinical building, slated to open in early summer 2007.

We've made great strides toward our goals, creating new ways to serve patients better, to push the boundaries of scientific and health care research, and to train tomorrow's health leaders.

From heart attacks and strokes to rare congenital conditions, we do it all and we do it well. Our care, our research and our educational programs have been recognized nationally by many organizations for their quality and impact on the lives of our patients.

We invite you to explore our site and learn more about who we are and what we do.

Sincerely,
U-M CVC Directors
