A Gift of Philanthropy: Hoensheild Family Tradition

Jane Beam & Lauraine Hoensheid Jane Beam & Lauraine Hoensheid
Lauraine Hoensheid, along with her late husband, Warren, have been long-standing community philanthropists with a passion for the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center. Lauraine’s deep care for patients and her concern for their comfort led her to name the Warren R. and Lauraine A. Hoensheid Reception area adjacent to the Cardiac Procedures Unit on Level 2A of the CVC. In this area a patient concierge tends to the needs of families waiting for word about their loved ones undergoing procedures in the Cath and Electrophysiology Labs.

Lauraine’s daughter, Jane Beam, is continuing her parent’s legacy of generosity at the University of Michigan. Jane, along with her husband Andrew, created a Quiet/Meditation Room just off the Hoensheid Reception area at the CVC. Additionally, during last year’s annual spring football game, the Beam family matched dollar-for-dollar every donation made for the game. Andy, Jane, and their two children, Hannah and Olivia, are all huge U-M fans.

On August 19. 2010 Lauraine and Jane joined forces to make gifts supporting U-M Cardiovascular Center and the new C. S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital. Janes’ gift will also fund the construction of the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Both gifts will be recognized with names spaces in the new hospital.
