How to Apply
Application deadline: December 15, for admission in Sept of the following year The Graduate Program in Cellular and Molecular Biology (CMB) is a diverse interdepartmental program which accepts students from many scientific backgrounds through the Program in Biomedical Sciences (PIBS) admissions process. Each application is evaluated on criteria which reflect the applicant's ability in academic as well as scientific pursuits. Applicants complete and submit an application to PIBS at the University of Michigan, specifying an interest in CMB. The application includes a personal statement describing the applicant’s background and career goals. A detailed description of the applicant’s research experience is strongly recommended. Applications (online or paper) should be accompanied by all official transcripts, and letters of recommendation from three individuals who are familiar with the applicant's academic work. Comments on the applicant’s research experience are particularly helpful. The Graduate Record Exam general test and one subject test are strongly recommended for applicants to the CMB Program. It is important to take the GRE tests as early as possible so that the scores can be received for timely review of each application. All application materials are reviewed by the PIBS Admissions Committee, which is composed of both faculty and students. Selected applicants are invited to visit the CMB Program to have an opportunity to meet faculty and students and become familiar with the research and training opportunities. Additional information, including deadline dates and application materials, can be obtained by contacting CMB or PIBS as follows.
