Courses Integrative Genomics (Phys 555) download course syllabus (Winter 2006 - Word file) This 3 credit graduate level course is offered in the Winter Semester. It meets MWF 11-12. The objective of this course is to provide students with the intellectual underpinnings to design, analyze, and interpret physiologic experiments in a mechanistic manner using genetically engineered animals. The course will center on the gene-protein-function paradigm in the context of the whole animal. Genetic engineering of animal models will be presented, with vertical integration of gene function through tissue/organ, system and organismal levels. Complexities due to gene interactions with the environment will be considered, including effects due to nutrition, aging, gender, exercise and disease.
