Welcome to Community Programs and Services

Created in 1997 as Community Health Services, Community Programs and Services aligns community initiatives across the Health System through program coordination, strategic planning and resource allocation. Today, we support and run several programs that create healthy communities, including Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels, the Housing Bureau for Seniors, Interpreter Services, the Program for Multicultural Health, Patient & Visitor Hotel Accommodations, the Regional Alliance for Healthy Schools, the Adolescent Health Initiative, the Comprehensive Gender Services Program, the FRIENDS Gift Shops, and Volunteer Services.

By participating with local and state partners, Community Programs and Services capitalizes on the University of Michigan Health System's resources and expertise to improve the health and the quality of life in the communities we serve.

Community Programs and Services mission is to provide programs and services that benefit patients and families, promote health equity, access to care, and connect UMHS to the communities it serves.

Community Flu Clinics

UMHS Community Programs and Services, the Program for Multicultural Health, and Interpreter Services are partnering once again the UM School of Nursing, the UM School of Public Health, and the UM College of Pharmacy to provide free flu vaccines to those community members at high risk of developing serious complications like pneumonia, those who lack medical insurance, individuals with certain medical conditions (asthma, diabetes, chronic lung and heart disease), pregnant women, people age 65+, and anyone living with or caring for others who are at high risk of developing serious complications from the flu. The flu clinics are available at the following locations and no pre-registration is required. For more information, please contact Tammara Smith at 734-998-2156 or visit the Program for Multicultural Health website for a schedule of the 2015 flu clnics.
