Test Methods

Children of any age (even newborns) can have their hearing checked. The way hearing is checked depends upon a child’s developmental age. There are different kinds of tests that can be used to learn about a child’s hearing. Sometimes a child needs to show a response to sound, other times the child only needs to sit quietly or sleep.
